One of the best parts of the holiday season is spending time with family and friends. But as a condo owner, hosting can be tricky when there is limited space available in your unit. In these cases, why not encourage the residents of your building to make use of the condo building’s party room? Here are four tips you can pass along to your condo community, to make a holiday party go smoothly.
RESEARCH THE COSTS INVOLVED
Depending on the condo management company and condo corporation’s bylaws, an additional fee may be required for space rental. Sometimes, this fee differs depending on the number of people you’re hosting.
Once you find out whether there is a rental cost or not, calculate the approximate cost of food, drink, decorations and other details to host your holiday party. Doing so will ensure you aren’t surprised by the time the party date arrives.
START PLANNING EARLY
It’s likely that many residents want to use the condo’s party room! That’s why it’s important to encourage them to make reservations for their holiday party early.
A date should be booked with the condo management office, and invitations sent out to friends and family. The earlier this is done, the greater the chances are for attendance numbers.
Be realistic with the number of people you invite. You want to be comfortable and have room to easily visit with everyone in the room.
PREPARE, PREPARE, PREPARE
Completing as much preparation in advance is key to hosting a successful holiday party. Here are some useful tips:
- Purchase any decorations, think of your menu options and envision the layout for the room.
- Closer to the party, purchase any food so that the shopping is out of the way the day of your party.
- When it comes to food prep, see if you can use the kitchen located in the party room for ease and convenience. Getting as much food prepared as possible in advance of your guests’ arrival ensures that you will have time to enjoy the party too.
RESPECT YOUR NEIGHBOURS
A condo’s party room is considered Common Elements; as such, the furnishings and accessories do not belong to any one person. Remember that if there is any damage during a holiday party, it’s going to come out of the resident’s deposit.
Although some condo buildings have amenity-only floors, many have residential units on the same floor. Be mindful of this fact by keeping noise to a minimum during a holiday party.
